what I love to do, re-booting

tjou-tjou was in a deep sleep for a year now. lot's of things kept me busy and ended up just being excuses to avoid what I love most: creating new products. in the last few weeks I realised that I'm in a battle with myself and I need to get over my blogging slump. talking about my creative process and struggles kept me inspired. so I hope with a lot of little steps I'll be getting back to the maker in me. at the moment I'm busy with a new idea for a product. yay!

liewe aarde, ek kan nie glo dat ek 'n jaar laas 'n blog geskryf het nie.🙈 so baie dinge het gebeur die afgelope ruk, waar begin ek? om een of ander rede het ek tot die besef gekom dat ek besig is om met myself te stoei en al die drama en hartseer om my as 'n verskoning te gebruik, om nie te doen wat ek so lief voor is nie. so, met klein stappies sal ek hopelik weer uit my blogging-dip kom. eerste stappie: 'n nuwe produk is in ontwikkeling. hoera!

vir my stukkies-onthou-muur

this year flew by again and i almost forgot to 'create' a memory for my memory-wall. i found some of my kids' old baby clothes and hope to capture a memory of them as babies with these embroidery hoops. will blog about the results soon.

my stukkies-onthou-muur is 'n bietjie afgeskeep hierdie jaar. tyd het totaal en al met my weggehol. ek het hierdie ou babaklere van my kinders uit die kas gekrap en gaan iets met hulle doen vir die muur.

the latest memory for my memory wall ~ i've stitched my youngest daughter's profile on a piece of her favourite 'blanky'. the loose bits of thread is my way of mimicking her hair in the morning before i have to chase her around in the house with a brush...

op haar 'bersie'. die los gare stel haar deurmekaar haartjies voor net nadat sy wakker geword het.

my new memory for my 'memory wall' is taking me out of my comfort zone and into a new skill that i would like to explore this year ~ embroidery.
     this memory is to remind of my busy daughter, jana. i call her my 'warrelwindkind' {whirlwind kid}. all her trousers are always scuffed or full of holes on the knees. the background is a piece of corduroy trousers {with the scuffed knees} that i kept for this project. the crocheted disks are patches that my sister and me made for more scuffed trousers. the button was on one of her tops, i think for one day.

hierdie jaar wil ek so 'n bietjie meer speel met borduurwerk. dit is 'n nuwe tegniek vir my. ek ken so 'n paar steke wat ek op laerskool geleer het. 
    hierdie 'stukkie onthou', vir my muur, is sodat ek my 'warrelwindkind' altyd sal onthou. haar langbroeke se kneë is altyd stukkend en dan moet ma 'n plan maak. die gehekelde sirkels is 'patches' wat ek en my suster nog vinnig gemaak het vir al die stukkende kneë. die agtergrond is 'n stukkie corduroy wat ek spesiaal gehou het vir hierdie projek ~ natuurlik dié deel waar die kneë amper deur is. die knopie was 'n versiering op een van haar toppies. dit het losgekom na een dag se dra.

as you can see, not much happened since then.

so....  my task over these holidays is.... make some memories, vrou!

die jaar was rof.... meer as 'n jaar gelede het ek begin met my 'stukkies-onthou-muur'. gaam kyk bietjie hier. duidelik het daar nie veel gebeur tussenin nie. 

ek het besluit om gedurende die vakansie nuwe 'stukkies-onthou' te maak.  
toe jong, tyd wag vir niemand nie!
